Dreamer, Drifter

My mind drifts from red dust to daylight
on and off the switch flickers
thick and thin, matters not to all the sin
all the sound, sights and ceilings that I’ve laid my eyes upon
hold the light as I fall to to the floor
your message burnt into my skin
your eyelids heavy from the warmth within

we fight daily, but we live freely
we fought the world and fell
the darkness thrived on our dealings
lately, I’ve found your hair soothing to the touch
a blessed feeling
no more nails, black water and paper trails
malice trickles in from the window
sunrise to sunbathed, we’ve found the world wanting
I linger on, unscathed

the widow calls out to the world in my stead
I have left this place in my shadow
back turned and nose burnt
I walk onto woodland paths unknown to those that laugh
no houses, no cabins or keeps to break the deep
longing I have for the worlds I’ve left behind, in my sleep

long ago have I noticed your embers
your dearly departed eyes have left the world watching
waiting, and I am touched
not by the wanting, or wounding or winding trails
and all the while we stood still in time, as I failed
again and again, we broke bread and shields in the twilight
onward to the hallowed halls of undying

onward to shallow graves and empty nests
filled with those fathers of empty threats
empty hearts, and eyes to look upon corpses we despised
but we loved them, we knew them
we watched them grow and die and again
we fill the coffins with rain from our tangled eyes

see the symphonies that I weave with my woe
with my heart on my sleeve, my light had to go
our swords fell to pieces and our words turned to ash
to barren lands, broken mountains
the waters drew back as curtains made of clouds
I walked alone, with you in my shadow
and yet I found you far ahead, always growing
always so beautiful, always so bright and unafraid
always smiling, a faithful companion
to the end

long have I waited for this day
this hour and moment in the dull dew of May
I find myself now in the fields of dreaming
dark with sunspots and too much feeling
follow me once more, my love
into light we cannot know
into the hearts that helped us grow
to lands unknown and unaffected
by the world we know
a place neglected

Autumn Fire

In the stillness of an autumn sunset
I find your face to be most mesmerizing
the colours mar your beauty as it comes into the light
and there are remnants of scars, from the past you’ve left behind
eyes of dark dreaming and amber skies
the type that appears in empty corridors, and sombre alleyways
I am frozen in doubt
still you mock me with your voice
unsurprising
moonlight beaming, red and white flakes in the evening
why do I wait
when I know that you are sleeping
like the colourless hand that wipes your tears
I find myself in agony
and all this occurs in the heartbeat of an instant
while the time we had falls down, dying
bleeding
in the quiet of your jaded heart, I find the fires of the sun
reborn from ashes of another
and then again, another one
time passes as my heart begins to wither
your memories are there
but the world remains bitter
the thought of loss and the ending of all
the drive we took, the wind in the trees
your laughter, my surprise, when you stumbled
and fell
all those moonlit walks we never had
and your smile, the result of a joke I’d never tell
seasons change but the heart does not
colours fade
but the strings still knot
as autumn falls to woodland grace
and your silhouette becomes my mirror
the writing speaks of all the times
not of love, not of lust, not of magic beans
or dinner
but of truth in life
and of the things we shan’t forget
that beauty stays
and these summer nights will last forever
so promise me one little thing
a little favour to repay
say you’ll smile for a timeless sunset
on that fateful day
when I find your favourite song
and decide to walk your way

Late Night Entropy

now tuned in to watch the animals party on
cracked ceramic sphere
yeah i see it coming, i see the swan song
the end is near
and all they want is more
the cage unlocked, the door wide open, mark the floor
Vader’s losing weight as the world progresses
nothing less and nothing more as the animals fester
mid life crises coming up from the black seeds
forgetting the families, forgetting the worth as we shoot the poor
shoot it up, shoot for more
3 pointers flow as the we hemorrhage the core
change the order of the chaos flow
the men up top know
no more and no go as the hammer pulls back
again through the alleys and light rays
no more toys to play with, no highways
buildings fall flat as the tendrils move
leeching life forward through the drug infused grove
the meddling, the noise it brings
we rip apart the words that made us
the skies that gave us
the light that saves us, saves you, no more
that’s true
loud booming and a train goes
another in the night, and the land knows
cracked up, the Lines they Ley
erupting with darkness, no majesty left
no time, the barony went
magic floods into the sky
we fall through worlds as our memories lie
no words, no hate
glass houses rise up and stand eternal
facade, and blessed with death
no lands to spoil the rod
much like the man that was, the hand that harms
the old god
