The Spinning Wheel

If all the world knew what it cost to keep us spinning
around the corners of last year and the roads ahead
what would they say if they knew the words I spoke?
or the time I needed
what would they use to tie the chords of my soul?
aside from that which carries me home, your thread
my ruse conceded
say no more to the time it took for me to write this
I come to you in hours dire
the world is shattered and my mouth is fire
my time has ended
my love
befriended
the stars I have sought in this life of mine
they faded years before
we are out of this world now
and out of time
the message you seek has found no meaning
it is just that, a message
death comes to all; it is beauty untold
fingers of fear fall from my lips
as I sing to you of a world I once knew
a world I once ventured to
oh if you only felt the pain I would swallow
and the time it took for my heart to catch up to you
if the gods could write poetry, their words would be familiar
they would write of your hair
your eyes
and the smile that cut the cosmos
to say you are a merely a woman would be a fallacy
but to say you are not the fairest
would be untrue
