Love Is

Love is, a difficult word to understand
awkward and unrelenting
love is in fact, a bottomless teapot
at one end you have the spout
ornate and carved by the waters of life
with energies, flavours and thoughts from far and wide
this spout is a magical doorway to the hills of lavender and lemon
with thyme’s fragrance gently enveloping the room around us
we pour from the never ending river of love, and saffron cinnamon
every day, we find ourselves invigorated by its poise
these are no doubt, the early years of love
soft to the touch, yet unflinching in the voice of uncertainty
at the best of times, the stream is calm
slow and steady wins the race, after all
then, as love progresses, there are surges of life and magical energy
much like a little cup of jasmine and ginger
strong and captivating to the taste buds
this mirrors the passion and strength of those in its embrace
there are times when it slows, but fear not the end
for the teapot is far from empty
when the flow is silent, there is but a new pot brewing
a new flavour created only for you
a storm of laughter and vigor, erupting in the shadows of adversity
and a strawberry sunrise

at the other end of love’s embrace
we have the robust base of the teapot
this is our mountain; the rock we build our homes upon
etched into a ceramic and celestial body
we have the many designs of our family, our youth
and our future
there can be no spout without the blessing of the pot itself
a vessel from which we pour the essence of life
warm and loving to the touch, we lift the pot daily
pouring love and shelter from its core
as our journey continues, the pot may grow colder
and sometimes, it is heavier
do not falter when this time comes to pass
stand firm in your values, and your visions of happiness
the teapot is your lifeline
there can be no healing without the taste of Green or Earl Grey
though there may be trouble here and there
there is always another cup of raspberry nectar brewing
another drop of cinnamon and snow
tilt the pot downwards, at an angle of unknowing
and you are sure to find the answers
that even teapots cannot show….
