The Culling

consequence finds me at this hour late
no cities fall anymore to the seas of hatred
no sire for me to look up to
servitude is bought with blood
and i have none left to give to the stars
the world has taken this gift from me
as well as your light
i am alone

i bear the light no more for the ghostly shore
the oceans of landmass drift apart
they are quick to run from chaos
as they should
for chaos comes to all that wait
i wait no longer
i am the chaos that walks around you

call out to the trees and the birds shall fall
they listen only to gods unknown
to the droning sound of death herself
his self lost to the night
there are no lords left to lead us
there is only time
but time is immaterial and dead
the first victim

we push on through the noise
the surface gods linger to fight the remnant
the leftover chords of the chaos lyre
the lute unstrung, lays in the mire
trust the musical score to give you reason
a purpose
in this world of hurt and nudity
strength is nervous

you are here with me are you not
here in this tragic tone of silence
there is wisdom in denial
ignorance and causality’s trials
there is reason to the madness around us
the target moves before us
strike now and find your self
i am beside you

use the hand that guides you
feed the fires that lie behind you
the coal is organs made of ash
flesh and bone and bodies unmatched
the carnage we sow
there is reason to reap those that grow
they move us forward
we are strong when we are weakest
i am tired

a poisonous fume to fuel my endings
to singe the nerves that are at mending
i heal now only to break again
to see your face and cry
to know that my fight is over at last
but you cannot shy away
you cannot linger
fight on and free the fearless many
those that tremble

move on dear friend and pave the way
with corpse and tree that fall today
cut a path of vengeance sweet
in the midnight’s blackened treat
turn the leaves and search for answers
to questions long and forgotten
be the end that life deserves
be the reckoning
a cancerous curve
